Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus suitable for use in the detection of analyte species and to a method of detection suitable for use in the detection of analyte species. The present invention relates, inter alia, to apparatus suitable for use in the detection of analyte species, which apparatus includes a selective separation means (as defined in the Specification), for separation of an analyte species from a sample, and sensor means, comprising a chemical sensor means (as defined in the Specification), for detecting analyte species received from the selective separation means. The invention may find application, for example, in the detection of one type of analyte species or in the detection of a plurality of types of analyte species.
